Outline:
Join us for a comprehensive breakdown of how to safely integrate AI into your immigration practice. We will navigate the critical balance between leveraging tech-driven application processing speeds and adhering strictly to CICC professional standards, immigration laws, IRB Rules and PIPEDA data privacy laws.
Core Topics Covered
- AI Architecture & Governance: Differentiate between generative models and autonomous agents, understand the risk of "cascading errors" across multi-step workflows, and build practical transparency frameworks for your firm.
- High-Yield Practice Workflows: Learn the R-C-C-E prompt framework to extract complex travel logs, build IRCC-ready chronologies, summarize lengthy National Documentation Packages (NDPs), and audit applications for consistency prior to submission.
- IRCC Automation Defense: Discover how IRCC uses algorithmic triaging (versus the Chinook administrative spreadsheet system) and how to submit bespoke, highly specific evidence to bypass “boilerplate” algorithmic refusals.
- CICC Compliance & Authorized Representation: Establish strict "Human-in-the-Loop" guardrails to distinguish routine administrative file management from non-delegable legal discretion (Section 38) and ensure professional competence (Section 19) when using automated timelines.
- Data Security & Practice Governance: Evaluate built-in CRM tools for confidentiality (Section 28), implement de-identification protocols, and maintain a verifiable audit trail (Section 37) for transparent record-keeping.
- Tribunal Rules & Cross-Profession Guidance: Navigate the IRB's absolute prohibition on AI-generated personal evidence (including BOC narratives) and adopt disclosure guidelines from the broader legal sector.
Actionable Takeaways Attendees will walk away with the 4-Tier Golden Rule for safe AI usage and a concrete 30-day roadmap to audit subscriptions, build standard operating procedures (SOPs), update client retainers, and properly train staff.

Speaker/s:
Tetiana Karbovanets
Tetiana is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant and the founder of Maple Dream Immigration, based in Calgary, Alberta. Licensed as an RCIC since April 2018 and holding an IRB specialization (RCIC-IRB) since 2026, she has over eight years of experience as an immigration practitioner. Tetiana specializes in Family and Economic Immigration, including Express Entry, PNP Programs, and Pilot Immigration Pathways.
Before entering immigration consulting, Tetiana practiced law in Ukraine for more than five years, holding 2 master’s degrees from Uzhhorod National University - in Law and English Language and Literature.
Tetiana is also an active member in Ukrainian community in Canada and is one of the founding members of RCIC-UA (Association of Ukrainian Canadian Immigration Consultants), uniting immigration consultants serving Ukrainian nationals in Canada.
In recent years, Tetiana has built a parallel focus on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in regulated professional practice. In September 2026, Tetiana received an AI Governance Professional Certification from IAPP. Naturally drawn to emerging technologies, she is deeply curious about how modern tools can be safely and practically integrated into daily professional workflows.
Tetiana brings a unique, hands-on perspective to the intersection of immigration practice and AI governance. As an active immigration consultant, running her own immigration firm, she actively utilizes AI in her own operations while rigorously navigating the associated data-handling risks and professional-conduct implications. Rather than treating AI adoption and regulatory compliance as competing interests, she speaks practically about how RCICs can leverage these tools for drafting, research, and case management without compromising client confidentiality, accuracy, or obligations under the CICC's Code of Professional Conduct.
